Packed with power and technology features, the upcoming 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Electric is ready for the new era of pickups.

It is often said that nothing ever stays the same for long. For Chevy, the 2024 Silverado Electric embodies what is remarkable and exciting about making electric mobility even more accessible in an industry where change is constant. The high-end truck, which will be built in the Factory ZERO complex in Detroit, promises up to 400 miles of all-electric range on a full charge, 664 horsepower, and a 10,000-pound towing capacity.

When it goes on sale in 2023, the 2024 ChevroletSilverado Electric will join a pool of electric-pickup vehicles from Ford, GMC, Tesla, and Rivian. However, Chevy aficionados need not worry about the rivalry, as Silverado Electric will bring the high-quality equipment required to withstand competition. Read on for ten things we now know about the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Electric.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado Electric is based on the GM BT1 platform, which underpins GM's battery-powered pickup trucks and SUVs, including the GMC Hummer EV, GMC Sierra EV, Chevrolet Equinox EV, and the upcoming Cadillac Escalade electric vehicle.

The architecture allows for an optimal center-of-gravity and near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution, resulting in a delightfully responsive and sporty performance.

At launch, the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Electric will be offered in two configurations that are both equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced safety features and driver aids: the Work Truck (WT) and the more upscale RST First Edition.

The WT model will provide basic amenities geared squarely to the needs of passengers. These include vinyl seats, rubberized flooring, silver-painted steel wheels, as well as black front and rear bumpers, and exterior accents. The RST trim has a sporty and powerful appearance that epitomizes sportiness and driving pleasure. It features aluminum-alloy wheels, color-keyed front, and rear bumpers, exterior accents, and significant interior enhancements.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Electric has an all-electric powertrain that consists of dual motors and a 200 kWh battery pack. The dual-motor e4WD powertrain system provides a combined 510 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque in the WT, as well as 664 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque in the RST.

According to the Detroit-based manufacturer, zero to 60 mph is reached in under 4.5 seconds. The Chevy Silverado Electric is available with an all-wheel drive system that distributes the power well and helps with handling.

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado Electric has a beautifully crafted cabin of premium materials that encapsulate the essence of Chevy's sophisticated next-generation design.

Drivers will find the Silverado Electric much more comfortable than the regular truck, thanks to functional amenities, spaciousness, and exclusivity-enhancing features. The seats can be specified with a two-tone upholstery with red and blue accent stitching, while a flat-bottomed steering wheel offers a good grip and enhances the vehicle's already sporty interior.

Shoppers who are holding out for the Chevy Silverado can expect a more connected driving experience, as the truck will feature leading-edge technologies. Buyers can choose between an 11.0-inch infotainment touchscreen paired with an 8.0-inch digital gauge display as well as a 17.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 11.0-inch gauge display.

Silverado Electric will also be available with various desirable features, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, a Wi-Fi hotspot, in-dash navigation, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

The 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is roughly the same size outside as a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. Dimensions-wise, the Silverado EV will have a length of 233 inches, a wheelbase of 155.7 inches, and a height of 76 inches.

Meanwhile, the Silverado 1500 Crew Cab measures 231.7 inches in length, 147.5 inches of wheelbase, and 78.4 inches in height. Despite the two vehicles being almost identical in exterior dimensions, the Silverado EV has a larger interior than its long-running gas-powered sibling.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Electric will have an available panoramic fixed-glass roof – the first of its kind in a GM full-size pickup. This feature provides a high roofline that ensures excellent headroom and better forward visibility.

In addition, the large panoramic roof gives the Silverado EV's interior a light, airy, open-to-the-sky feel that enhances the feeling of being in close touch with nature.

Arguably, the biggest highlight of the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Electric is the Multi-Flex Midgate, a feature that returns from the Chevrolet Avalanche, a full-size pickup truck that was discontinued after the 2013 model year. The folding Midgate on the Silverado EV allows you to fold down the wall between the bed and the cabin, extending the load length from the standard five feet to around 10 feet.

Unlike the Avalanche Midgate design, which can only be fully opened or fully closed, the avalanche features a 60/40 split lower section, enabling you to leave the rear glass in place. That means you can have one side folded at a time, fold down both sides, or open the entire middle section to accommodate large items.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Electric has a four-wheel steering system that gives you excellent handling and exceptional maneuverability, even in small and narrow spaces.

That's because the four-wheel steering causes the Silverado EV's front and rear wheels to turn in opposite directions at low speeds. At high speeds (over 25 mph), the wheels turn in the same direction to make it easier for drivers to change lanes.

The 2024 Silverado Electric comes with an adaptive air suspension system that allows you to set the ideal driving position for maximum comfort behind the wheel.

The system can be raised or lowered by up to two inches, giving you the flexibility you need in different environments while also allowing you to savor the driving excitement in a cabin that oozes sporting luxury, regardless of load or obstacles.
