Pensacola woman on motorized shopping cart killed in Nine Mile crash

A 35-year-old Pensacola woman was killed in a crash after she was struck by a van while crossing East Nine Mile Road on a motorized shopping cart Friday night. 

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash at about 9:07 p.m. on East Nine Mile Road and University Parkway.

According to an FHP report, a van was traveling northwest on University Parkway when an unknown vehicle stopped in the inside lane of U.S. Highway 90A.

The woman operating the motorized shopping cart entered the west lanes of East Nine Mile Road as the van approached. 

The van failed to yield right of way to the woman in the woman operating the motorized cart, according to the report, and collided with the right side of the cart. 

The woman died from the crash, according to the report.
