Southplace City Center Planned With 4,400 Residential Units, BRT Connection – The Next Miami

The owner of the Southland Mall has announced plans for a $1b redevelopment known as Southplace City Center.

Southplace City Center is planned to include:

The entire community will feature bike and golf cart paths, pedestrian walking trails, and trolley stops to minimize the use of cars.

Ground-breaking on the first residential building is expected in mid-2023 and would deliver in approximately 18 months (early 2025), with rents starting at $2,500.

Preliminary plans were filed with the Town of Cutler Bay this week.

The project design team for Southplace City Center includes economic advisors Florida Economic Advisors, retail consultants CPH, master planner/designer MSA Architects Inc., landscape planner Insite Studio and civil/traffic engineer Kimley Horn.

Electra America, BH Group, and American Landmark Apartments are the developers.

A Neo-urban Smart city is coming to Cutler Bay with an effort to bring downtown closer to home. This will be really cool.

Yeah really like the setup for urban density

As Homestead continues to grow, I expect to see this part of Miami-Dade County to increase in importance.

Good usage of the lot to add more resi units and provide more of a downtown feel in that area. Hopefully, with the increased number of residences in the area an expansion of metrorail would happen sooner rather than later. If something like this could happen in Homestead it would be great for the entire county

Metrorail expansions to Miami Beach and FIU need to happen first… and MetroRAIL, not MetroMOVER, monorail, or shuttle service. Priorities…

South and west expansion of the Rail is more important than the beach. Density is much higher in those areas and they commute east and north.

Good, existing malls need more density around them.

The mall is going away. It’s a dump anyway.

It literally says they’re are renovating the mall

density of what??? people making below the median wage which lags behind other cities??? yet the cost here is the same??? 2500$ is what most people take home in a month in a lot of miami..

This is gonna be a great project in line with development plans for the area.

rip gigantic empty parking lots……..

Who am I kidding, good riddance to those parking lots!

I’ve been saying this for years, the BRT line should have never started at Dadeland south. Metro rail should have expanded on the existing bus lane to cutler bay and the new BRT should have started there. If you look at a map, the urban density mass is continuous all the way to Cutler Bay, it doesn’t start sprawling until Princeton, just south of Cutler Bay. Having rail extended partially to this new southland mall development would have been ideal with the new BRT connection all the way to Florida City from that point.

I guess you think the population of MiamiDade has peaked?

As if we need more sprawl rather than better incentives for urban infill.

Growth has stalled out the last decade and even slightly declined the last few years. It may well have.

The Mall of the Americas and Northside Center should be redeveloped in a similar fashion, too. The latter is within walking distance to an existing Metrorail station, too.

Rents starting at $2,500.00 in Cutler Ridge ?

its brand new with retail and restaurants underneath you

…. but it’s in Cutler Ridge… Location, Location, Location

A lot of the real exciting growth and new trends is taking place in the suburbs. Miami suburbs and the suburban areas of Miami are great.

Great news for South dade. Sounds and looks identical to city place in Doral. Just give us an Improv too!!!

2500 no one. In that area will afford for a 1bedroom or studio

…. it reads like that $2500/mo will be in 2025 when they are completed….that will be cheap by then.

Where the fuk are the condos? The American dream is dead. You can only lease the American dream.

this is great but the design looks like Doral place, I don’t see the innovation but Build it!

how many empty townhouses out in doral and homestead area?? built with money parker moneys

Far better better architecture than the Arquitectonica hackjob known as CityPlace Doral, however.
